Although the anime series focuses on the guitarist Ritsuka, the bassist Ueno, and their high school classmate Mafuyu Sato, the film focuses on the romantic relationship between the band's bassist, Haruki Nakayama, and the drummer, Akihiko Kaji, as well as Akihiko's roommate and Ritsuka's former boyfriend, Ougai Murata.
